Bahamas Football

Thursday 22 May 2008 @ 3:02 am

Over the last few centuries the sport of football has greatly become popular. Groups like the Federation Internationale de Football Association, or FIFA, have helped to spread the popularity of the sport to many different countries. The Bahamas are among the places that have been influenced by the sport. However, Bahamas football is just something that has become popular in recent times.

Sports in the Bahamas as a whole was not that big until the early part of the twentieth century. During the 1920s and 1930s there were football clubs that began playing the game on the island of New Providence. There were all sorts of clubs, most notably Scouts, St. George and St. Michael, that began playing here. These clubs would also play games with groups from naval ships from other countries and other recreation ships that docked at Nassau. Most of the games here were played during the Eastern Parade.

In the 1940s football truly began to be popular. The Boxing Day Soccer Classic was formed for competition for all of the football clubs in the country. The Vikings and St. Georges were the most popular teams in the game at this time.

In 1954 sports in the Bahamas took a turn into more popularity as a league for football teams was formed. The Bahamas Football Amateur Association, which was formed by English businessman Brian Andrews, had several ten man teams that played matches on Sundays at the Park Clifford. The league would have some additional team as time went on.

The first major match that took place involves a team from the Bahamas came in 1957. A team of all-star players from the country played in a major trophy match against the Coral Gables Soccer Club.

With more international games involved the Bahamas Football Association was formed. This was for the intention of representing the country in international matches. The group would get its full affiliation with FIFA not long after that.

The BFA also joined the Confederation of North, Caribbean and Central America Association of Football. The group joined this league in 1981. This was used especially for representation in local matches.

Bahamas Football is another of the notable groups for the sport in the country. It works in the creation of leagues in numerous islands around the area. It also helps to educate people about the game, including information for not only players but also for coaches and officials.

Sports in the Bahamas have grown in popularity over the years, and Bahamas football is just one of the best examples. With all of the groups involved in the sport around the country it can be seen here that the sport is indeed popular and is continuing to grow in not only the Bahamas but also in other countries in the area.

Discount Vitamins

Wednesday 21 May 2008 @ 4:04 am

Instead of paying full price for the vitamins and supplements you need, you can always save a bit of money and go with discount vitamins. There are several ways to find vitamins on discount, with the most common way being sales at your local nutrition store. Even though this is the most common way to find discount vitamins, it can also be one of the hardest ways to find the vitamins you need.

When local nutrition stores have discount sales, they normally have a limited supply of the vitamins that have on sale. Once they have been sold, that is normally the end of that particular vitamin being offered at discount price for the duration of the sale. Other times, the time frame of the sale may make it hard to get to the store. If you don’t know about the sale in advance, it may conflict with your schedule and you miss out on it.

Many stores that are going to be having discount vitamin sales will run coupons and fliers in local papers and magazines. The Sunday paper for instance, is always full of magazines and coupons, which is normally where they advertise the sales. Even though there may be a lot of advertisements found in the Sunday paper, it is normally where you find the best deals. If you spend some time going through the advertisements, you can normally find some great sales, including sales at your local nutrition store.

Another great way to get discount vitamins is buy them in bulk. A lot of people underestimate buying bulk, as they don’t understand just how great this can be. If you buy bulk at your local nutrition store, you are more than likely going to get a great deal. Even though your local store may be offering discount vitamins through a sale, buying bulk is sometimes cheaper than even their best sales.

The reason for this, is the fact that bulk purchases off the best possible prices on discount vitamins. If you are looking to take certain vitamins on a frequent or daily basis, buying in bulk may be the best decision. If you buy vitamin A or vitamin C in bulk, you can get it at a great price with enough of a supply to last you for a long time. When buying in bulk, you’ll get a great price and enough of the vitamin to keep you from going back to the store for quite a while.

If you buy in bulk, you should make sure that you can use the vitamins before the expiration date expires. There are many vitamins out there that have expiration dates, after which they must be discarded if they aren’t used. Even though buying in bulk is always the preferred way to buy your discount vitamins, you should make sure that you can use the vitamins before they expire. You should never feel pressured or even tempted to buy in bulk unless you know for sure you can use all of the vitamins.

With many options available to you, discount vitamins are the ideal purchase to get the vitamins and supplements you need. Millions of us all across the United States take vitamins on a daily basis, making them a sound investment. Even though you can buy vitamins on sale at your local nutrition store or online, buying bulk is always the best way to make your purchase. You can get a great price on your vitamins - and have more than enough to keep you going for a long time.

The Basics of Skateboarding

Tuesday 20 May 2008 @ 11:45 pm

Skateboarding, among other street sports is relatively easy to start as a hobby. It can earn you new friends and can also double as your daily fat burning exercise. You just have to observe several reminders before you take up skateboarding.

Safety should be first priority. This is why the major equipment and gear used for skateboarding are all designed for your protection. As a beginner, or even when you are about to start your first skateboard trick, you should always have your protective gear intact. The main piece of course is the helmet. Then you will also need a couple of elbow pads and knee pads to round things off.

If initially you do not have the said gear, you can always borrow from a friend or neighbor. But it is always advisable to use only the size equipment that fits you best. A way too big helmet only presents a higher chance for an accident to happen. Loose elbow pads and knee pads will not be able to do their job as efficiently either. Remember that it is always better to invest a few more bucks to be safe now than sorry later.

After the protective gear has been secured comes the centerpiece of it all, the skateboard. Skateboards have various designs and sizes that will fit every person who would like to take a crack at skateboarding. Actually it does not really matter if you borrow a board at first since you will need to determine first which style or make you would like to be using as you go along your skateboarding career!

Remember that before you even think of hitting the streets with your skateboard, practice and familiarize yourself first with your chosen wheeled wonder. Try standing and jumping. Move your feet on the skateboard and experiment with various foot movements. This will give you a feel for the skateboard allowing you to adjust before the real action begins.

The skateboard stance is one important thing you will have to determine at the onset. Try to feel if you are more comfortable with the right or left foot forward. The rule of thumb when choosing which foot goes where is to put your kicker at the back. This only means that whichever foot you use for kicking a ball, this most definitely should be the foot placed at the rear end of the skateboard. If you do kick with your right foot, place it behind the left when riding the skateboard. It is really as simple as that!

Movement comes after your set skateboard stance. It is generally attained by pushing with your back foot to get a forward movement for the skateboard. Just remember to always relax yourself when you start to push out keeping your knees bent if you feel that it would help. At first, it may feel quite weird, but you will soon get a hang of it so do not worry!

Last but not least, you should learn how to stop your skateboard. The most basic of the techniques is to use the backstop where you only need to put your back foot on the ground to slow you down to a halt.

Doing A Free Trademark Search

Tuesday 20 May 2008 @ 6:51 am

Can you really carry out a search for trademarks without paying for it? Maybe, maybe not. There certainly are some sites on the Internet that offer some preliminary information which do not charge for the searches, but their terms and conditions may not be transparent.

What really is a trademark? It could be a word, name or symbol, especially one that is officially registered and protected by law, which a company or individual uses as identification on all the goods made or sold by them. It could also be a distinguishing characteristic or feature. When a trademark is registered, the owner gets legal protection to carry on business using that trademark exclusively. No other individual or organization can use the trademark or even anything resembling it without attracting penal action. With such significant advantages, it is best that one registers the brand one intends to trade under as a registered trademark. To do so, the first step is to conduct a search to find out if that particular trademark is available for registration.

A method that costs nothing is to use the Internet to search online. Trademarks already registered are listed on many sites. It is important that the trademark that you intend to use must be unique and which will not be already in use elsewhere.

- The official body that registers trademarks in the USA is the United States Patent and Trademark Office or USPTO. Their website is available for free downloads from their PT depository library. You can also check the site for availability of identifiable goods. This site however is not all exclusive. Other important information such as trademarks registered in the various states, DBA records and other necessary important facts are not available. The site depends on manual entries for variations such as synonyms, placements, variations in spellings etc.

- Websites of State Secretary. Most states have detailed databases made available online. These sites however, do not include details of federal trademarks, listings of other states and common-law databases. If you are visiting a state’s website, do ensure that what you are looking at is an updated version and whether it can conduct an intelligent search.

- Yellow Pages. You can access their nationwide database by just entering the name of your business. There is no need to enter all other details asked for. Like the other websites, you will have to enter details of variations failing which the website does not conduct an intelligent search.

If you are not satisfied with the outcome of the search that you have undertaken without incurring any cost, you can always hire a professional who specializes in this work. Before that however, why not make use of the free facilities available?

An application for registering a trademark can be filed with the USPTO. They will conduct their own search to ensure that no other similar or look alike trademark has been registered. It is not the job of the USPTO to serve the applicants. Their job is to protect existing trademarks. They will do this by ensuring that no new trademark infringes on existing registered ones.

Considerable preparatory work needs to be done prior to applying for registration of a trademark. Depository libraries can be visited and manual searches for existing trademarks can be carried out. The same can be done electronically using TESS. After the application has been made, its progress can be monitored using TARR.

Secret To Buying Cars For Less Now

Sunday 18 May 2008 @ 5:46 am

World famous Dr Suzanne Gudakunst has just released her biggest “shocker!” ever …

–> Her Secret to buying expensive cars for as
little as $300 a month!

Dr Suzanne made it big on both TV and now the Web - but what most people don’t know is that she routinely buys exotic and luxury cars for as little as 50% of what car dealers force everyone else to pay.

She is able to do this because she discovered something NO car salesman ever wants you to find out about!

This Secret is so powerful, yet involves doing just 1-3 things (usually) that will allow you to get ANY CAR you want (including normal day-to-day average cars you see on the highway, to even the most expensive exotic cars such as Lamborghinis and Rolls-Royces!)

Most recently Dr Suzanne herself used her own secret to buy over $1 million worth of cars, but where she saved $700,000 using her amazing new breakthrough secret (so she paid just $300,000 and got 6 very pricey cars worth $1 million - and each one was brand new and this year’s model!)

But you DON’T have to be looking to buy these top and most expensive cars - but can use her secret to buy any car - even a middle-class Sudan or family vehicle.

So, at this point it’s only fair to ask:

“How did Dr Suzanne discover this?”

Simple really …

Although very rich (Dr Suzanne makes over $45,000 a day online alone) Dr Suzanne is the kind of gal who doesn’t believe in paying “extra” if you don’t have to.

One day while shopping around for her first Bentley Rolls-Royce, she got “mixed feelings” from the car salesman trying to sell her the car.

She felt that he wasn’t telling her the truth (a kind of “sixth-sense” sort of thing).

So she began compulsively investigating all the deals she could possibly find elsewhere and online, and in the process she started to see a clear pattern:

–> People are being lied to and cheated out of
$10,000’s each and every time they buy even
a single car!

Dr Suzanne then got really “ticked off” and this drove her to an even DEEPER investigation far, far further until she had a stack of facts, figures and even methods that allowed her to get one over on the car dealerships (for a well-deserved change!)

Being a doctor and scientist, naturally Dr Suzanne wanted to put her “New Discovery” to the ultimate test:

* * * A real “live” case! * * *

So she went out and applied her new found “Secret” only to discover that she could get a Rolls-Royce for as little as $600 a month, and a Lamborghini for as little as $1,160 a month!

She also found that she could get the prices on these same kinds of cars reduced by as much as 30%, 50% or even by as much as 90% (or even more!)

Then she decided to see if this same “Secret” could work for what most people considered “normal cars.”

And guess what: * * * The SAME Secret held TRUE! * * *

Dr Suzanne was now armed with what is now considered by experts at below wholesale buying to be the “Greatest Car Buying Secret” ever discovered!

So powerful and amazing it PROVED in her own life that she decided to share it with several close friends to see if they too could apply it successfully.

And the SAME THING resulted!

One good and close personal friend of Dr Suzanne’s is another Internet Multi-Millionaire (name withheld for privacy reasons) and who wanted to buy a brand new Lamborghini Murcielago which usually costs $412,700* (*this year’s model).

After applying Dr Suzanne’s secret he was able to get it for:

o NO Money down!
o and just $1,300/month!

Yeah, yeah … I know, I know … these people are already rich … so why should they get to use the advantages of her secret, right?

The fact is: Regardless of how much you make (or like most of us, how little!) it doesn’t matter.

As they say “a penny saved is a penny earned,” so imagine saving $250,000 on a super exotic car (which means $250,000 earned!)

Or, for the rest of us, what if you saved:

o $15,000 on your next car purchase, Or …
o $400 a month on payments

These savings quickly add up (and again, BLANK amount saved means BLANK amount earned, regardless of what you put in the BLANKS, right?)

So, if after reading this email you STILL insist on being an “idiot” and paying FULL Price when you no longer ever have to, then fine, leave all the biggest savings to the few of us who are smart enough to grab up Dr Suzanne’s “Top Secret Car Secret!”

Oh, and by the way, with the few of us doing so, the car salesmen will have to screw someone else out of all the money that they are losing to us, so that means “YOU” will be their next victim.

… Unless of course you happen to have a COPY of Dr Suzanne’s “Top Secret Car Secret” like we do!

So, just to be generous, I’ll give you the link** (**But Shhhh! - Don’t go blabbing your mouth all over the Web telling everybody else, cuz we have a pretty good thing here as long as everybody else doesn’t find out about it!)

Here it is:

The Internet and the Global Economy

Saturday 17 May 2008 @ 4:50 am

There is a saying that may have become rather trite over time. The world is getting smaller all of the time. One element that has made the world even smaller is the advent and growth of the Internet. When all is said and done, the Internet has had a great impact on the global economy. Through this article, you will be provided with some basic in for mation about how the Internet has impacted the global economy.

As referenced a moment ago, the Internet has had a significant role in regard to the global economy. In fact, perhaps nothing has more effected the global economy in history than has the Internet. The Internet and World Wide Web actually has worked to transform the global economy on so many different levels and in so many different ways.

With the birth and growth of the Internet, the whole concept and thrust of the global economy has changed immensely. Historically, only a limited number of individuals and small number of business enterprises could ever become involved in the global economy. Before the use and expansion of the Internet and World Wide Web, it took what normally amounted to a tremendous amount of money to become involved in the global economy in any way, shape or form. Moreover, there were many legal barriers to a person or company becoming involved on the international market, becoming involved within the grand global economy.

Thanks to the Internet, the reality in the 21st century is that literally any person or any business enterprise actually can be involved in the global economy. With a computer and an ISP, a person or business actually can dive into involvement in the global economy. With almost no startup investment — with no significant capital investment whatsoever — a person can become involved in the global economy, become involved in creating a business enterprise that is involved on the international market.

In the past ten years, many individuals and companies have either established business ventures that are involved in the global economy thanks to the Net or have expanded pre-existing businesses to the point that they’ve become active on the Internet and World Wide Web. Most experts agree that this number will only continue to grow (and probably substantially so) over the coming ten to twenty years.

One of the more interesting developments in regard to the global economy and the Internet is the recurring reality that many people and many business enterprises have ended up becoming very profitable thanks to their involvement on the international market in the past decade. Truly, individuals and business ventures have ended up making tremendous amounts of money thanks to the wedding of the global economy and the Internet in recent times.

Drug Addiction: The Effects

Friday 16 May 2008 @ 2:58 am

Drug addiction is not something that just affects the individual who is addicted. It has consequences beyond what one can imagine. It affects the families of the addict, his employer, schools, friendships and societies in general. It also has a direct impact on the health of the immediate family of the addict.

The effects of drugs cover a wide spectrum of experiences from the initial high to the lows of when the effect of the drug starts to wear out. For instance, using cocaine, the former is exciting while the latter causes anxiety, fatigue, depression and a craving for more drugs to get back to the high from the effects wearing out. Marijuana and alcohol affect the central nervous system and are the causes of many automobile accidents. Marijuana and other hallucinogenic drugs cause flash backs, much after the effects have worn out, even after a few weeks of usage.

Chances of HIV infection caused by multiple uses of hypodermic needles are high as is hepatitis. Increased sexual activity among addicts increases the risk of addicts acquiring AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases.

Many addicts indulge in criminal activities such as burglary and prostitution to raise money to feed their habits. Some substances like alcohol induce violent behavior. Over 10,000 deaths per annum due to drug abuse are recorded in the USA. Substances most cited are cocaine, heroin and morphine quite often in combination with alcohol or other drugs.

The addict’s dependence on the substance, added to its effect on emotions and physical responses, often leads to marital discord and poor performance at work resulting in dismissal. Family life is often disturbed and, out of love or fear or both, family members or the spouse enable the addict in his habit through destructive behaviors of codependency. They deny that there is a problem, or cover up for the addict and supply him with funds to feed the habit.

Babies born to drug users tend to be much lower in weight than the average due to the mother being under nourished or of a neglected constitution. Fetuses in the wombs of addicts get affected by the drugs taken by the parent, by a process called crossing the placental barrier, and suffer from withdrawal symptoms immediately after birth. This is particularly so in the case of users of crack and heroin. The fetal alcohol syndrome, due to the alcohol consumed during pregnancy, affects children of alcoholic mothers. Infants acquire AIDS virus through the intravenous injections of drugs that the mothers take.

Society pays a very high price due to the prevalence of addictions of any kind. Work- man-days are lost in the workplace, involving cost over runs. Drug users are more prone than non-users to cause accidents endangering themselves and their colleagues. More than fifty percent of all road deaths in the United States are caused directly or indirectly by alcohol abuse.

Turf wars and other violent crimes between drug dealers cause havoc in neighborhoods. Residents are constantly under threat and there are crimes among the addicts themselves. Some areas report that young children are recruited to be lookouts and helpers as juvenile offenders get lighter punishments. Teenagers as well as younger children armed with handguns have become quite common. Among the homeless, most suffer from drug or alcohol addiction or mental illness, and often from all three conditions.

Since drug addiction has such a serious impact on the addict, families and society in general, the need to take action is urgent and immediate. Otherwise, the effects of drug addiction can have far-reaching consequences and the addict may never get a chance to recover from his disease.

Amazon Kindle Review

Thursday 15 May 2008 @ 9:58 pm

I waited with excitement for several weeks for my new Kindle to arrive. I was most impressed with how easy it appeared to download books. I had a Palm and was constantly having trouble with the downloading of e-books, so when I heard about the Kindle, I immediately purchased one with an Amazon Store card that I had opened and designated just for Kindle purchases.

When I received the Kindle, I immediately read all the instructions, etc. One of the very first pages I read stated “you can start purchasing Kindle books immediately using the card that you purchased the Kindle with” (or something close to that). When I tried to buy the books, I couldn’t because it stated that I had no credit card registered. I called customer service and after 3 different people I received the answer that I needed a credit card, not the store card. They were nice and apologized and said that it was an oversight on their part and that they were working on the problem.

They gave me some alternatives, but each alternative was more complicated that I was willing to try. Remember I stated that I was impressed with the EASE of ordering?!! So…very regretfully I sent it back. In future if they resolve this problem I will purchase another one. Just thought the public should know about this.

Sarasota Florida’s Spectacular Beaches On Siesta Key

Thursday 15 May 2008 @ 4:43 am

Siesta Key is a small barrier island just across the bay from Sarasota. One this small island are some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The white powdery sands rival the more famous beaches of Cancun or Boracay. There are actually three beaches on this island - Siesta Beach, Turtle Beach and Crescent Beach.

Siesta Beach boasts 40 beautiful acres of beachfront and is home to a large public beach which offers a variety of amenities for guests. There is a concession area with food vendors and a shady picnic area complete with picnic tables. Picnic shelters can be reserved in advance based upon availability. Restrooms and showers are available as are plenty of parking spaces. The parking areas can handle hundreds of cars but during peak season and on weekends, you may have to wait on a space. The beach is guarded by lifeguards year round and the shore is shallow which makes this the perfect beach for kids to play in the sand and surf.

When you tire of playing in the surf, you can play beach volleyball or soccer. Kids will enjoy the playground equipment and adults can work out on the outdoor fitness equipment. In addition, Sarasota holds festivals and events on the beach throughout the year for sports buffs, artists, and kids to take part in.

Siesta Key offers many other exciting opportunities for enjoyment beyond the beaches. You will find many unique shops and dining establishments scattered all over the island. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed but you can also enjoy fine dining at one of the many upscale and chic restaurants.

Siesta Key is home to some of the best accommodations in Sarasota. The reason for this is that many of the fine hotels and condos are beach front so you can enjoy expansive scenic views right from your room.

Siesta Key is the perfect vacation destination year round because the weather is mild during the winter so it is possible to enjoy beach activities even in the coolest months. There are many unique dining experiences for you which offer everything from seafood to steaks to vegetarian fare. The activities on offer are seemingly endless. You can go deep sea fishing, relax on the beach, rent jet skis, participate in sporting events, or browse the many unique shops and boutiques on the island.
